Tuscany
I am still sorting out through 5 years worth of photos on my hard drives. Good news is that I improved a lot in the last few years and my pictures are much better but the bad news is that I've been to some amazing places and didn't take pictures as good as I could now. Oh well, it's just a reason to go and revisit those places again.
Here is a shot from Tuscany taken 4 years ago with my first DSLR - the Rebel.

Milos Panorama
Milos is one of the less touristy islands in Cyclades. It is not as busy a Santorini or Naxos but it's absolutely beautiful.
The main town, Hora, is on the hill facing the west and some amazing sunsets. For more images check out the new updates on Darko Sikman Photography

View from Catbells
Catbells is a popular fell outside of Keswick. We went for a hike on Monday, one of the rare sunny days of the summer.
This is panorama stitched of 7 different shots.

Postcard from Greece
We're going to Wales in one week and leaving for India in 2 weeks and I still have thousands of photos to go through for the site and stock portfolio. Today was the "Greece" day and here is one of the outtakes.
This was taken in Oia (Santorini) just outside our hotel. What I was wondering is how come this was the only piece of clothing hanging there!?

One day in Paradise
Traveling around on cruise ship is good in some ways but when you get to some magical places like Moorea in French Polynesia and you only have one day its all really a tease.
Yes we were fortunate enough to see this amazing island, swim with rays and sharks in crystal clear waters of the lagoon and we even managed to drive up into the mountains for a quick stop before rushing back to the ship.
This shot was taken as we were leaving the island. I don't have many images from Polynesia since we only spent a brief few days in the area and we were out enjoying the beaches and jetskiing around Bora Bora but few of my favorites you'll find in my PLACES gallery on Darko Sikman Photography

Rescue operation
We were hiking in the Blue Mountains in Australia and I noticed the helicopters hovering around above the canopy. As we came to the lookout on the edge of the cliff we could see the big fire burning on the cliffs opposite us and smoke coming from the valley below. Some of the fire spread down the cliff and into the thick forest.
The firefighters were being lowered down into the bush to try and stop the fir from spreading. All this happened only weeks after massive bushfires burned acres of forest in Victoria.

(Rainy) Midsummer's Daydream
Another cloudy day in the Lakes - bad for hiking but good for sorting out photos. I was browsing through 1x.com and found some amazing pictures of the Lakes by John Parminter. I should definitely try and make it here in the fall sometimes, the colors are just amazing. It's beautiful in the summer too but it's mostly green.
My picture for today is from further down south - South Pacific to be precise. The island is Moorea and the anchored catamaran is a perfect way to spend a vacation in paradise. Unfortunately, the boat wasn't mine but one day.....

Blue Mountains
Here is a photo taken earlier this year in the Blue Mountains in Australia. We spent several days hiking around the area. Unfortunately my main lens was in Sydney being repaired so all the shots from the trip were taken with 10-20mm Sigma but I managed to get a few nice ones.

Winter arrived to Lake District early
It's cloudy and windy and cold outside and feels more like February than middle of August really so this picture was obviously not taken today. Few weeks ago we were walking in the fells outside of Coniston. This is the view from Buck Pike, overlooking Brown Pike and Blind Tarn. In the background you can see Coniston Water, lake made famous by Donald Campbell in the 1950's when he broke water speed records on it. He died in a crash on the lake in 1966 trying to break the 300 mph mark.

Langdale Pikes
We spent couple more days hiking in the fells and we made it to the top of the highest one - which is also the highest mountain in England - Scafell Pike but since we were standing in the cloud there will be no pics from the top, so the image for today is not the highest but its definitely one of the most famous mountains in this area - the Langdale Pikes, overlooking the Langdale Valley.

Clouds over Cumbria
Another cloudy and rainy day, perfect for catching up with my work. I'm preparing a portfolio of 500 shots for a stock agency and it's not that easy since really none of my shots were ever organized. Here is a pic from the hike I did with Andy, this is Robinson fell, just outside of Keswick.
Lake Windermere Vista #1
The summer is rapidly coming to an end and the preparations for our India/Nepal trip are on the way. It's a rainy day in Ambleside but that's OK because I need some time to catch up on all of the photos that need sorting. Today's shot is a panorama stitched from 7 photos of Lake Windermere as seen from Loughrigg.

Hiking
For the last two days the sunshine finally arrived to the Lake District and we spent them hiking around the local fells. My brother in law, Andy, who's been on these mountains countless times in all kinds of weather lead the way and we enjoyed some amazing views. The attached photo is a view of the valley outside of Keswick with eastern fells (that's how they call mountains over here by the way) in the distance. More shots coming up soon, both here and to www.darkosikman.com

Updates to the site
There are few new galleries on the site. I try to work on some old photos to bring some variety to my daily grind of going through 3 hard drives full of images so there are some old shots from Paris taken in 2005.
